Nel 2016\, ha diretto il lungometraggio animato La jeune fille sans mains\, presentato ai festival di Cannes e Annecy e nominato ai César.  \nPLOT \nLinda\, a little girl obsessed with her mother Paulette’s emerald ring\, is unjustly accused of losing it when their purple cat accidentally swallows it. After being severely punished\, Paulette tries to make amends and asks her what she desires. Linda replies that she wants chicken with peppers\, the dish her dad used to cook for her before he died. Paulette promises to fulfill her wish\, but an unexpected general strike makes it difficult to find a chicken. Thus begins a wild\, frantic search in the neighborhood\, filled with comedic and unexpected encounters that involve the entire community\, ultimately leading to the recovery of the special dish and strengthening the bond between mother and daughter. \nDIRECTOR’S NOTE \nChicken for Linda! is a sweet and funny film suitable for the whole family: a story about childhood told from a child’s perspective\, without being overly sentimental or exaggerated\, but full of humor\, mischief\, and poetry. Un giorno\, vedendo nel cielo un drone\, si convince di potersi mettere in contatto con una presenza inaccessibile. Inizia così un rapporto telefonico con un uomo che sostiene di essere suo padre\, rinchiuso in prigione. Questa connessione\, sempre più costante\, diventa il suo unico sostegno\, e le offre un barlume di speranza. Aggrappata a questa fragile relazione\, i suoi sentimenti si mescolano tra lacrime e sorrisi\, oscillando tra illusione e realtà\, in un percorso emotivo intenso e struggente. \nNOTE DI REGIA \nIn Luce siamo tornati a temi a noi cari come la famiglia e il lavoro\, provando a non tradire il nostro pensiero sulla realtà e sull’immagine\, le nostre convinzioni sui fragili confini tra vero e falso. Volevamo continuare a raccontare il rapporto con il potere\, che sia padre o padrone\, quel potere che quando è famiglia ti schiaccia e quando è lavoro ti aliena. Abbiamo provato a farlo attraverso il tumulto di una giovane donna in un contesto che la vuole operaia\, ignorante\, sottoposta\, e che la induce a una scelta malsana alla ricerca di un’assenza e di una voce che diventano vita parallela. \nBIO REGISTA \nSilvia Luzi e Luca Bellino sono due registi\, sceneggiatori e produttori italiani. Insieme hanno realizzato i documentari La minaccia (2008) e Dell’arte della guerra (2012). Nel 2012 hanno fondato a Roma la Tfilm\, casa di produzione indipendente caratterizzata da produzioni dalla marcata connotazione politica e sociale\, vincitrice del premio FEDORA (Federazione Europea Critici Cinematografici). Nel 2017 hanno esordito nel cinema di finzione con Il cratere\, presentato alla Settimana Internazionale della Critica della Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia e vincitore del Premio Speciale della Giuria alla 30esima edizione del Tokyo Film Festival. \nPLOT \nIn a mountainous village of Irpinia\, a young woman lives a reserved existence\, with the sole company of her cat and of a few relatives. She spends her days in a tanning factory\, a dehumanising place where every day is the same as the previous and talking is forbidden. One day\, spotting a drone in the sky\, she convinces herself that she can make contact with an inaccessible presence. Thus begins a telephonic relationship with a man who claims to be her father\, locked up in prison. This connection\, more and more frequent\, becomes her only support\, and offers her a glimmer of hope. Clinging to this fragile relationship\, her feelings alternate between sorrow and glee\, oscillating between illusion and reality\, in an intense and poignant emotional journey. \nDIRECTOR’S NOTE \nIn Luce\, we have returned to themes dear to us such as family and work\, trying not to betray our beliefs about reality and images\, nor our convictions about the fragile boundaries between true and false. We wanted to continue to narrate the relationship with power\, be it father or master\, the power that crushes you when it comes from family and alienates you when it comes from work. We tried to do this through the internal unrest of a young woman in a context that wants her to be a worker\, ignorant\, subjugated\, and that leads her to an unhealthy choice in search of an absence and a voice that becomes akin to a parallel life. \nDIRECTOR’S BIO \nSilvia Luzi and Luca Bellino are two Italian directors\, screenwriters and producers. Together they made the documentaries La minaccia (2008) and Dell’arte della guerra (2012). In 2012 they founded Tfilm in Rome\, an independent production company characterised by productions with marked political and social connotations\, winner of the FEDORA (European Federation of Film Critics) award. In 2017 they made their debut in fiction cinema with Il cratere\, presented at the Venice Film Festival’s International Critics’ Week and winner of the Special Jury Prize at the 30th Tokyo Film Festival.

Nonostante l’amore che li unisce\, una nuova tragedia li colpisce quando Percy muore nel sonno. I gemelli vengono separati: Gilbert viene mandato da una crudele famiglia evangelica\, mentre Grace\, che lotta con una crescente solitudine\, si rintana nel suo guscio. Uno dei miei preferiti è quello di Production Designer. […] Per questo film\, volevo mantenere i materiali e l’estetica semplici\, utilizzando quattro materiali di base: argilla\, filo\, carta e vernice. […] Volevo celebrare l’argilla\, con le sue irregolarità e imperfezioni. Sono nato con un tremolio ereditario che ho incorporato nella mia estetica. […] Ogni elemento doveva sembrare difettoso\, asimmetrico; come se fosse fatto in fretta o da qualcuno ubriaco. La psiche dei miei personaggi è imperfetta e volevo che il loro aspetto corrispondesse ai miei disegni\, che sono sciolti\, gestuali e ingenui. \nBIO REGISTA \nAdam Elliot è un animatore indipendente e artista visivo vincitore di un Premio Oscar©\, residente a Melbourne\, Australia. After the death of her mother\, she and her twin brother Gilbert are raised by their father Percy\, a paraplegic and alcoholic former juggler. Despite the love that unites them\, a new tragedy befalls them when Percy dies in his sleep. The twins are separated: Gilbert is sent to a cruel evangelical family\, while Grace\, struggling with increasing loneliness\, holes up in her shell\, just like her beloved snails. One of my favourite roles is the Production Designer. […] For this film\, I wanted to keep the materials and aesthetic simple\, and use four basic materials; clay\, wire\, paper and paint. […] I wanted to celebrate the clay\, its lumps\, bumps and imperfections. I was born with a hereditary shake which I have incorporated into my aesthetic. […] Every asset had to look flawed\, asymmetrical; as if made in a hurry or by someone who was drunk.
